THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is focused on family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private party adoptions, as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills and probate and estate administration in addition to commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for those who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of being a law clerk for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm involved representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Through her dedicated efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at hands of their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice was not limited to her legal career as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to increase awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce, child support, custody, and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the commitment to provide an individual approach to each client's need.
