Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly comes from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal practice is centered around family law. She has a love for it. She concentrates a large portion of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes property distribution in marital relationships, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the necessity of litigation or court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for those who would like to avoid the litigation and court process.
After finishing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received two Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled in her studies, placing among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrated her commitment to legal research and scholarship.
Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts played a crucial role in helping children who suffered in the face of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond the realm of law as she actively served as a board member for the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to increase awareness of human trafficking within the tri-state area.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law such as divorce child support, custody and guardianships as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC, 2023, with the commitment to provide a personalized approach for every client's need.
